I have had many positive experiences with the HU and I can vividly recall two separate experiences, which affirmed for me the power of singing HU, the ancient love song to God.
A little boy named Babe had been sleepwalking for a few years. His parents were worried, and they spent sleepless nights watching over him. They sought help from various sources but to no avail. One day a mutual friend introduced the parents to me whilst we were holidaying together in a foreign country. During our casual conversation, they mentioned Babe’s problem.
I silently asked the Inner Master how I could help him. I was nudged to teach the parents to sign HU. I told them about the HU and taught them to who to sing it. I cautioned them about what Sri Harold Klemp said when chanting the sacred name of God. The Master says, “Don’t expect the HU to work as you want, because God’s love, as it comes down and heals, does things It’s way. Not my will but thine be done – the non-directed prayer.”1
That night, after they opened themselves to the will of God and sang the HU, the parents and Babe had the soundest, most peaceful sleep they could ever remember. HU, the love song to God brought healing to a sleep-deprived family.
On another occasion, a mutual friend introduced Ah Chan to me when I was at the gym. Ah Chan had been a Buddhist for 30 years. He used to chant his special mantra every day and found it useful in the course of his work. However, as time went on, he began to feel a void, which prompted him his quest for truth. He read books on different spiritual paths and researched on Truth and religions. Yet he found there was something missing in his life.
I wanted to introduce the HU to him but he said the chant might conflict with his present teaching. I assured him that it would definitely not be in variance with his beliefs because HU is the Voice of God and every religion is enhanced by it. We went to a quiet corner in the sports club and sang HU quietly for ten minutes. After we stopped singing the HU, he opened his eyes, which glistened with tears. He looked excitedly at me and related his experience.
He said whilst singing HU, he felt a big column of white light engulf him and above his head was a brilliant blue star. He was lifted slightly off the ground and he felt himself floating in the air. There was such lightness in him and the incredible surge of warmth and love that washed over him moved him to tears! He said in his thirty years of chanting the Buddhist mantra he had never felt anything like that.
I gave him a HU card and told him about the Eckankar website where he could learn more about the HU song. He thanked me for introducing that sacred ‘mantra’ and said he would continue to sing his newly found ‘mantra’.
HU, the beautiful love song to God, led Ah Chan, a sincere seeker of truth seeker to the Light and Sound of God. With this new key, he can explore the inner worlds and be well on this journey home to God.
An individual does not need to have to be a member of Eckankar to chant HU. If he really cares about finding Truth or is desperately in need of help, God’s help, he just needs to chant HU. Sri Harold says, ”All I can offer you is the word HU. This is the name for God. Sing it to yourself, but first fill your heart with love.”2
